New Gluten World presented at the Italian Ministry for Economic Development during World Intellectual Property Day. CEO Carmen Lamacchia was part of a panel of inspiring female inventors who spoke about the unique strength of women as entrepreneurs in the startup economy. During her presentation, Professor Lamacchia asked, ‘how do you grow research? How do you expand your mission? Through a patent!’ She explained the complex science behind her discovery to modify gluten in wheat grains, and why she decided to protect her formula early on. Today, her Gluten Friendly™ patent and trademark are protected in more than 100 countries worldwide. And a second patent that extends the Gluten Friendly™ technology to medical purposes is on its way.
